The Jan Thiel area is a former plantation located on the east part of the island. Adjacent to Caracas Bay and further to the east to the islands's most desirable residential community Spanish Water, Jan Thiel is a perfect island location for residential and resort development.

A location which offers an unparalleled panorama over a white sandy beach and the Jan Thiel Bay to the east, fantastic clifftop oceanfront vistas along the full 45-acre site to the south, a sunset view of Willemstad to the west and along the northern border a picturesque dedicated nature reserve.

Guests enter the community through its own gated entry, then climb to the top of the resort up a flower laden entry drive with the beaches and the sea below before entering the Town Square .

This is the focal center of the Jan Thiel Community, the Village Center. This center is a treelined activity square with Retail Shops, a Casino, a Health Spa, Restaurants and nighttime entertainment.

At the ocean side of the square is the domed Hotel Arrival and Lobby Building. Entering through the top floor of this building, guests experience one of the most dramatic vistas over the multiple level pools, the hotel grounds, beach and sea.

The 350 room Hotel is a combination of open air spaces, clifftop guestroom villas and three larger 4 and 5 story guestroom tower buildings, all with ocean view.

The Hotel offers multiple dining alternatives from a cozy Beach Restaurant and Grille to an elegant Specialty Restaurant with its own arcaded courtyard.

Next to the Hotel precinct, the 200 unit Vacational Ownership section of the Village offers the guest a chance to become a permanent member of the Jan Thiel Bay community. All the buildings are residential in size and character, varying from larger 3 and 4 story buildings to more intimate Cliffside villas. This time share area has its own Arrival Lobby, Restaurant and Pool Area.

This center is a treelined activity square with Retail Shops, a Casino, a Health Spa, Restaurants and nighttime entertainment, all opening through loggias. The individual buildings are all residentially scaled and feature Dutch colonial detailing with clay tile roofs and festively painted exteriors.
